Detroit Lions Linebacker, Stephen Tulloch partners with Jalen Rose Leadership Academy to challenge students to essay competition

October 9, 2013; DETROIT, MI: Detroit Lions starting linebacker Stephen Tulloch has put out a writing challenge to the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (JRLA) students for the third consecutive year.

All students at JRLA  will receive an assignment from Tulloch to write a 1-2 page essay on leadership, why it’s important and what it means to them. On October 21, 2013 at 3:30pm, Tulloch will visit the High School, where he will formally announce  the contest and speak to them about leadership.

“This is my third year partnering with JRLA, and I always look forward to meeting the students,” said Tulloch.

“Leadership is very important to me and everyone at JRLA, and it’s fun to speak to the students about leadership and pass along any advice I can. They get really excited about this contest and it’s always fun for me to see what they’ve written, I actually read all their essays when they turn them in.”

Once the essays are turned in, a Wayne State University Professor will grade the papers and the top 50 students, along with 5 chaperones, will be awarded a trip to the Detroit Lions game on December 22 against the New York Giants.

Throughout the 2013 season, Tulloch will partner with local companies to help bring groups of 55 kids from various schools and organizations across Detroit to each Detroit Lions home game.  Participants will have a once in a lifetime game day experience including a Stephen Tulloch Foundation shirt, food and beverage at the game along with additional gifts from Stephen himself.
